Hi. My name is Carol Summers. I am the designer and creative director here at Carol Summers Design.

With a mission to create a more colorful world, and an eye on trends- I create textile designs for the fashion, and home markets.

After originally studying fine art and photography I fell hard for fashion and textiles. A small silkscreen project turned into something much bigger. Soon my cameras were getting dusty as I studied everything from silk production, to Japanese Shibori dyeing.

Luckily I found that everything I ever learned comes into play in my business. It turns out that to create dynamic printed collections I needed to digitally combine hand drawn imagery, photography and dyeing techniques.

Having grown up in my family’s retail store I played with salesman’s samples and fabric swatches for product lines a few seasons before they were sold.

These early memories keep me passionate about making designs that are beautiful and marketable.

Want to join in the fun.. sign up for my newsletter above. Twice a month, I write about trends, the design process, and my inspirations.

  • After a trip to NYC I designed this with imagery from highway underpasses in Brooklyn. These were hand printed with dye using silkscreens. The final scarves were sold at Definition Boutique and Salon DeZen.
